I love traveling and at every time I have a list of where I want to travel.
You know those times when the excitement of the new year has worn off and work/school/life basically has gotten so busy and all you want to do is stay in bed forever. Well I’m almost nearing that point, it’s March already and I have the busiest two weeks ahead with lots of school projects all due in time for last week in term. Do you feel this way as well?
Day dreaming about these places helps me get through life on a day-to-day basis. If not for the fact that this could be my next holiday destination, but also the fact that I am working hard now to be able to facilitate my dream of traveling the world. Regardless of when that may happen—if indeed it does happen—these are the top 5 places on my mind right now…
So where do I want to travel?
1. Seoul, South Korea
Korea is a country I am fascinated with. It all started with the dramas and next thing I knew I was studying the language. Because of this country I have had the chance to experience a new side of the world. It is interesting to learn how people from a land so faraway live and how similar they are to us. I know so much about this country and I cannot wait to explore it. Seoul is its capital and I hear it is a mix of the traditional and modern. You have the Hanok village with all its history and traditional architecture plus you also get the infamous Gangnam, the Beverly hills of South Korea. I want to try the food so badly that I imagine the taste in my mouth, it’s a given though that the real taste is far better!
2. New york, U.S.A
New york is my childhood dream. I remember watching movies set in New York and having a mental picture of me in those places. My favourite time of the year used to be winter —no, not for the cliché reasons seeing as how I lived in Nigeria and we had harmattan, not fun!—because it meant they showed Christmas movies which were mostly the ones set in new york. By the time I was 16, I had acquired a small collection of New York memorabilia and a long list of things I want to do there, some of which is to visit the desert cafe, Serendipity and have a wander round in Soho. It is a given that my intent is to visit New York in the winter, although recent weather forecast might be a bit discouraging but I still want my winter wonderland in Central Park!
3. Okinawa, Japan
It’s funny how the first time I heard about this island was on a Korean TV Show, The Return Of Superman. They were filming a holiday episode in Japan and one of the places they visited was Okinawa. The video clips they showed looked like paradise, and I was enchanted. Because there were kids on the show, they did a lot of exciting touristy things which made me fall in love more. Don’t get me started on the food, my god! I am no fan of seafood, but lately I am expanding my taste bud and trying it out. So far I like scallops and salmon. However the footage of the food on the show will get your mouth-watering, and the best part is it all looked fresh!
Scattered with luxury resorts and beaches, Okinawa is the perfect getaway for/from anything really. And with the sort of weeks ahead of me, this is the perfect escape!
4. Santorini Island, Greece
Speaking of relaxation, doesn’t this picture just make you feel calm, happy and serene. Imagine if a picture could do that, what the actual place is capable of. Being in London, Santorini is not far from my reach, however I haven’t had the chance to visit it even though it is on my wish list. As a travel-worm I feel ashamed to have not explored this beautiful Island yet.
Imagine waking up in this picturesque town with the gorgeous views, having breakfast outdoors and just lazing about and taking walks around town. Visiting all the little shops with their handmade and limited stuffs and having lunch/dinner Greek style. The Kardashians gave us a taste on one of their family holidays. Also as a blogger/photographer, I’m envisioning the gorgeous photo-ups and exciting posts to come out of this foreseeable trip.
5. Budapest, Hungary
This got on the where to travel list for more personal reasons. I have friends who study in Budapest and some living there. At some point I was planning to visit this quaint European city but it never happened. My interest was sparked again recently when a friend went on an overnight trip and she was gushing about how wonderful it was. She was able to do the major touristy checklist in a day and it was marvelous. Of course with a review like that who can resist. So out of all these 5 this is a more likely up coming trip for me.
So this is a round-up of where to travel. Do you have a country you are dying to visit or have you been to any of these? What are your thoughts, I’d like to know 🙂
