I am one of those people that can easily have a frown turn into a smile when I smell something good. I associate scents with good memories, collect perfumes and I am always hounding my friends and cousins about the best turaren wuta (Bakhoor) and where I can get it. Still searching BTW if you know…. 🙂
I remember the first time I heard of Jo Malone was in one of the vlogs I watched back in Uni, I loved the packaging and the vlogger I was watching was always raving about their products. But back then I was a student who had priorities with my spending and I thought to myself, someday I am going to buy a Jo Malone Perfume for myself!
You see with certain things, I would rather save up and buy it myself, rather than receive it as a gift etc. The feeling of going into the store, choosing the right scent and swiping my card for it makes it all the more an exciting experience and in this case, worth every spritz!
I picked up my first Jo Malone from their stand in Selfridges last Summer and it was such a fun experience for me. I was undecided on the scent to get, but I recently am obsessed with ouds and very heavy scents, so I asked them for recommendations and I picked out the Velvet Rose and Oud cologne intense and I was ecstatic!
The perfume is a combination of flavours, opening up with a Top note of Cloves, which blends with the Heart Note of Damask Rose, and then settling down to a Base note of Oud Wood.
At first the perfume has a very odd strong smell but as it settles in, it gets under your skin and the rose and oud smell overpowers the cloves and you can’t help but wanting more. I find that spraying a little goes a long way and the scent lasts for a whole day, and often times I can smell it on my cloth the next day.
I got two vial samples of the Myrrh and Tonka in my package and I literally was considering getting it as my next Jo Malone purchase. But I may actually try something more florally next time!
I am such a girly girl so the packaging was such a treat for me, and I was not eager to open it up because of how gorgeous it looked! In the video below, you can see my first reactions of the perfume and get a 360 view of what the package looks like! I feel like this whole perfume purchase was an experience for me and I can’t wait for my next Jo Malone purchase!
