Welcome to Planet Meera.
I am an Economics & Journalism student by day and a book-writing language nerd at night.
I have also appointed myself as an unofficial ambassador for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Fun fact: I am Nigerian, currently studying in England, and I speak 4 languages! These include English, Hausa and Fulani fluently, and the last being Korean which I am still learning, currently at intermediate level.
This blog stemmed from a school project in my first semester studying journalism, and it has evolved since then, with me trying out and exploring different topics and ideas.
I write about my adventures travelling and currently exploring England and Nigeria, and the many things I tick off my bucket list, like the photo of me on the right where I went flying with my friend!
I sometimes write commentary on culture from the retro, to the pop and also the social phenomenons facing our world today like race.
My areas of interest include International development, gender equality, photojournalism, travel, languages and human rights.
I have always heard that when keeping a blog, you have to find your niche and stick to it. This has been a struggle of mine for quite some time. My teacher advised me to make my thoughts, ideas and interests my “niche”. So there you have it, PLANET MEERA—a space filled with all that!
A space that houses, coherent thoughts, sometimes ramblings of a twenty-something year old who has a strong passion and desire to share words and stories with the world, and also to help make a difference!
These photos above are like a window into my life, it is about my love for model united nations, cooking, Korean culture, skincare, bookworm, development economics and photography. These are some of the things that occupy my spare time!
So at Planet Meera, you can find current affairs, general life happenings, social problems, recipes, and just about anything that could be used as a conversation starter with the stranger sat next to you on the bus or the friend you call every few weeks.
So you could just grab a cup of tea and join in the conversation. Everyone is welcome on this planet.
