Creatively directed by 19 year old ‘business student a la fashion designer’ Fatima Babakura, the Timabee brand sets out to “redefine luxury by making it affordable”. What started out as a hobby to bring an idea into reality has turned into a full time business for Fatima. The bags are handcrafted to perfection to fit in with the luxury tag and are making their way into the collections of fashionistas.
I had the chance to ask her a few questions that I’m sure a lot of you as well as me are curious about.
I believe this timabee bag can be worn in three different ways and so I styled three outfits to go with each one.
“It’s harder when I don’t find anything in my sketches that catch my eyes when I am designing for a collection because then I have to start sketch something elso, but I love it!”
OUTFIT 2: The clutch look for a lunch date or festival or just when you wanna feel good really. This gives up a hippy vibe which is my fave kinda vibe at the moment. I have been obsessed a bit with vintage pieces. In Nigeria we don’t dress according to season, it sort of is summer all year round. So for my Nigerian readers and those in sunny climates, you get to rock this look all year round. I had the idea of pushing the strap through the top and leave just a bit to make it clutch like by slipping in my hand. You can find pieces for this in your wardrobe. Just pair a basic tee with a skirt maybe an ankara skirt with some sunnies and layered accessories and of course your Timabee bag and you’re good to go. I would also add flowers in my hair or wear a daisy headband. This is the kinda look that uplifts mood and makes you stand out!
” The reason why I use the sample for a month is just because I want to be able to catch any mistakes, if at all there are any. And believe me, there are always mistakes.”
“Talking about my goal for the brand alone excites me to be honest. I mean, it’s my name.”
